Isabella Rossellini is the Mr. Rogers of Nature Porn
Ms. Write turned me on to the genius of the Sundance Channel’s Green Porno segments. Green Porno is the brainchild of actress extrordinaire Isabella Rossellini, and this lady is looney in the most wonderful of ways. Green Porno consists of two minute short films dealing with the sex life of the animal world. The costumes are goofy, child-like and whimsical, the information is fascinating and makes for excellent water-cooler fodder (Hey Mitch, did you realize that the average whale penis is six feet long? Hell, coulda sworn it was longer), and Ms. Rosellini delivers each segment with nutty enthusiasm and an understated smirk. And honest to God, it is even weirder than I just described it! This is great television! Think a kiddie educational daytime PBS program about red-hot nature sex. The only thing that could possibly make Green Porno more awesome would be for Ms. Rossellini to invite her co-star of the classic 1986 film Blue Velvet Dennis Hopper to co-narrate a segment doing his Frank Booth character schtick. Highly recommended!
